'LivingDamned.com' is the on-line presence of 'Fitted Kitchens of the Living Damned', Ireland's longest-running Metal zine.
Launched in late 1998, the printed zine had run three issues (one per year) before it was decided to move it to an on-line format. Why? The usual story... increasing printing costs and crazy postage charges.
If you've missed out on any of the zines to date, here's a taster of what lay therein... and unless you're a complete technophobe, you'll notice that many articles have been made available to you on this site...
FKOTLD #1 (Nov 1998, 36 A4 pgs): The tentative debut... interviews with Bal Sagoth, Primordial, Scald, Waylander, Ewigkeit, Sweet Savage, Entwined etc, mostly done via email/ letter. Features included Mo Tormentor's 'Horrorscopes', Joe Solo's demo-recording tips and a 'How Metal are you?' quiz. (awarded the, uh, prestigious, 'Zine of Month' accolade in Metal Hammer, March '99. Didn't get us any zine groupies though, goddamit...)
FKOTLD #2 (Oct 1999, 40 A4 pgs - SOLD OUT): This was a vast step beyond the debut...face-to-face interviews with METALLICA, Skinlab, Entombed, Cathedral, Paradise Lost, Arcane Sun (R.I.P) and Epoch, written ones with Solstice (R.I.P), Abaddon Incarnate and Mourning Beloveth. Features included the infamous 'Style Council' column and all the usual sort of reviews and all that carry-on. (again awarded the 'Zine of Month' accolade in Metal Hammer, Dec '99. Also, great write up in Terrorizer Jan 2000 - 'A classic Metal zine...')
FKOTLD #3 (Oct 2000, 40 A4 pgs - SOLD OUT): Ah, truly this was the dog's bollocks... arrogant, us? Face-to-face inties with Voivod (HAIL!), Godflesh, Dismember, The Haunted, Lesshelp, Kingdom, phoners with Morbid Angel, written with Agent Steel, Cranial Torment, Unsilence and Hexxed. Add in a 4-page Irish scene report and a scattering of the usual nonsense. It rocked mightily.
Copies of issues #1 - #3 are available for free, just send in an A4 envelope with a realistic amount of stamps to cover postage. If there's any particular interview that you want to have in original printed format contact me... I can arrange for photocopies/ pdf versions to be sent.
